The EUDI wallet was developed to meet high standards of security, data protection and trustworthiness. The technical specifications follow the principles of “security by design” and “privacy by design”, so that security and data protection aspects are already taken into account during development. The EUDI wallet uses certified security mechanisms and protected areas of modern smartphones to protect sensitive data and cryptographic keys. Users retain control over their identity data and decide for themselves what information is shared with authorities, companies or other organizations. In addition, the EUDI wallet supports data-saving procedures in which only the information that is actually required is disclosed. The aim is to make digital identities safe to use while protecting the privacy of users in the best possible way.
